2004-08-02 GEERT LOVINK (The Netherlands)
is a media theorist, net critic and media activist. As a theoretician he's interested in a wide variety of topics related to sociocultural means of media and new technologies: from squatter movements and the media, free radio, to the net culture and critique of the New Economy. Geert Lovink is an editor and co-editor of media-related magazines (a former editor of the cutting-edge media art magazine Mediamatic.net (1989-94)), catalouges, significant interview selections, co-organiser of temporary media labs, workshops, conferences.

RAM6 WORKSHOP

What is to be done today? This question is crucial for VILMA-Vilnius Interdisciplinary Lab for Media Arts, that is being staged through RAM seria of workshops. Geert Lovink was invited to present his works, and to share with RAM6 his insights tracing foundations of the digital commons, net activist strategies, weblogs, the shifting role of culture and arts in today's networked control society.
